It is no secret that I adore a Sopley Mill wedding. I feel privileged to be recommended by the venue and proud to call myself a Sopley Mill Wedding Photographer. Whilst having captured weddings here at all times of year, in every weather condition you can think of. I do have a soft spot for a spring/summer wedding at the mill. Afternoon ceremonies, games on the lawn, before watching the sunset during your couple portraits. Perfection. So today, I bring you the Wedding of Emily and Tom, who married at Sopley Mill in May 2023.
Opting to get ready on site, Emily and her Bridesmaids began their day with hair and makeup in the beautiful Avon Suite. Being on site also meant that Emily could have a sneaky look at how all of the florals and designs were coming together throughout the venue. An hour or so later the Groom arrived, and whilst the girls were banished, hiding upstairs, he put the final touches to the venue, and his boutonniere.
On Sopley Mill’s 2nd floor, you will find the Granary. From a wedding photographers perspective, this room is perfect for ceremonies. With south facing windows letting light stream in, with views overlooking the New Forest, crisp white walls, and enough room to seat 100 of your favourite people.
Emily and Tom’s day was no exception to the perfection rule, with an aisle lined with potted flowers (a perfect eco-friendly option) and an emotive service.
For the nature lovers, bringing the outside in is a breeze at Sopley Mill. My absolute favourite decoration in the River View Room, is when couples choose to wrap the vaulted ceiling in greenery. Being a New Forest Wedding Photographer, I cannot get enough of those green tones. Plus it makes the room smell amazing!
I cannot think of a better place to dine with your loved ones, than the top floor of Sopley Mill. With breath-taking views of the New Forest surroundings and a full appreciation of the tiny island that Sopley Mill sits on. You can laugh and cry through your speeches, whilst the sun streams through the windows. Sneaking off for a few couple portraits on the fire escape (which is way more romantic than it sounds).
Here it is, the piece-de-resistance of getting married at Sopley Mill in the Spring or Summer; Couple portraits in the meadow, at sunset! Step into the New Forest and watch the sun go down over the river. Wave to your guests from the iconic Sopley bridge and soak up the last rays of sunshine on your wedding day.
