Let me sell you a dream. You have an intimate wedding ceremony in one of the most iconic registry offices in the world. You step out into a blizzard of confetti, the sun on your face and the hand of your soulmate clasped tightly in yours. And what follows is a day of freedom and adventure. Exploring one of the most romantic, stylish and insanely photogenic places on the planet. ‘And what is this wonderful dream?’ you ask. It’s London baby! And it gets me so excited to be a London wedding photographer.
And you have to admit, it’s tempting, right?! The pressure-free, stress-free decision to say goodbye to all the expectations and get married in your own way. That freedom of spirit is infectious. Because so many young couples have realised that a big white wedding really isn’t their scene. But a crazy-romantic London elopement? Oh, yes please!
But don’t take my word for it, let me show you! Last year I attended a beautifully styled workshop run by the talented and loveable Kirsty Mackenzie. With two gorgeous couples, a photo tour of Chelsea and bags of exquisite styling, this is a real treat for the eyes! And who knows? If you’ve been dreaming of a London elopement, this might just be the final temptation you need.
Chelsea registry office is the place to have a London elopement. The amount of A-list celebrities who have tied the knot here is endless. I’m not gonna lie though, it is surprisingly basic inside! But if it’s good enough for Judy Garland, Pierce Brosnan and Hugh Grant then it can’t be all bad can it?!
But here’s the thing. You don’t elope in London because of the luxurious decor inside the registry offices. You elope in London because of what’s on their doorstep.
And that’s the best thing about Chelsea Old Town Hall wedding photography. The moment you walk out of your ceremony, you’re right in the centre of the most sleek, modern, photogenic areas of London. And with no guests waiting for you to entertain them, no first dance to endure or speeches to stress about, the day is yours and the city is your playground.
Chelsea is a wedding photographer’s paradise. We talk about it in hushed, revered tones. We dream about it. And can you blame us?! It’s simply glorious, especially in the summer.
The sleek, modern, metropolitan backdrop of the Chelsea area is quintessentially London. Flower-lined streets of majestic houses with white stone pillars. Monochrome buildings and checkerboard steps. The iconic ‘Love’ door. The architectural gem of Chelsea bridge, overlooking the Thames as it glistens in the summer sun. There’s even a regular installation at The Ivy in case you still have time!
As a wedding photographer, I always get to a venue early to scout out locations. But with Chelsea, for a mile in any direction there are endless astonishing backdrops for photos. All you have to do is decide which direction to walk in!
When you’re planning a London wedding, you have the freedom (nay, the responsibility!) to be as fashionable, stylish and downright fabulous as possible! And these guys really understood the assignment!
Joanna and Kieren were the epitome of a cool, carefree, young couple. Joanna’s ivory mini dress paired with brown boots and an Ashley Wild floor length veil made her look like she’d just stepped out of a Vegas chapel! And the big bold summer blooms in her awesome bouquet from Bud Flora synced so well with the fun-loving summer vibes. And I loved Kieren’s rollneck and suit combo from ASOS too, with brown shoes to match Joanna’s boots. Their look was super minimal, relaxed and paired back. Effortlessly stylish, and perfect for the Chelsea streets.
Indie and Rudi’s look was astonishingly sophisticated. I mean they looked like they’d just stepped off a yacht! Indie’s wedding suit from ASOS bridal is perfectly on trend for elopement styling, with wedding suits and jackets really taking off this year. And it went so well with Rudi’s blue chinos, open shirt and two-tone brown suit jacket. And I absolutely loved the playful daisy theme running through Indie’s look too. With daisy detailing on her socks, her shoulder-length veil and the daisies in her stunning bouquet. Subtle, fun and just so pretty!
Oh my goodness, do I adore capturing London elopements?! I love the romance of them, the fun, the adventure. I love that we can really get to know each other, connect on a personal level and share the amazing experience together. And most of all, I love the fact that the whole day is just about the two of you. Your love for each other, and your future together as a couple.
And as a documentary wedding photographer, I get to tell every part of the incredible story as it happens. There’s no need to ask you to endlessly pose, or pretend to be having fun for the sake of a photo. Because the whole day is a whirlwind of excitement and I get to be the one to capture it. Giving you modern, romantic, beautiful photographs that tell the story of the most exciting day of your lives.
If you love my work, think that I am the London wedding photographer for you, and want me to capture your London elopement (or any wedding, for that matter!) I’d love to hear from you. Please get in touch today and let’s have a chat and get to know each other.
