Reaching the milestone of photographing 200 weddings has been really reflective, most of those weddings were captured in the last 3 years after going full time. It is so clear to me how far my work has progressed (particularly since 2021). Taking time to look back through over a decade of wedding days it just reaffirms that wedding photography is more than capturing beautiful images – it is about freezing moments in time that tell a story. That couple’s story.
I wanted to create a little video and blog post. Taking you from my first wedding all the way up to my most recent. Last weekend. There are 176 images here for the 176 weddings I am able to share. These aren’t always the most polished or ‘perfect’ images, but they are the ones that made me feel something. A moment that stood out, moved me, or showed a connection or split second shared with the couple and their loved ones.
What is (sometimes painfully) obvious, is how much my work has changed and developed in both style and editing. It feels like the photography (and wedding) industry is often pushing so hard to stay on trend. To keep up with the latest dress fashions or editing tones. That things can get a bit muddy and messy, I certainly jumped around a lot in those first few years with different colours. Now I could have re-edited many of these images, so that they flow better in the slideshow, or look curated in a feed, but whilst the edits may differ – the heart of the images (I think) stays the same. It’s about connection, about people, about fun.
There are so many wonderful suppliers within these images. These weddings were forged from love and hard work from each couple and the wonderful team they picked.
